I am now using a different system for Demonstrations. It has worried me for a long time that the traditional way of demonstrating on an easel was not the best way. Even those in the front row saw what I was doing for half the time and those further back saw very little at all.
To meet this need I now work at a table and a video camera is trained on my board. This is connected to a computer projector which projects the image directly upon a screen. This way everyone gets a view as good as if they were watching a television screen or, even better, looking over my shoulder.
During each demonstration I comment upon the preparation I have done, the equipment and the working methods I am using, I tell the audience which colours I am mixing and expound on the philosophy and method of my approach. As far as possible I try to give as much information as I can about my own particular working methods and materials as I work.
